Still trying to work some kinks out of it. I'm trying to get better compression (the download on my current installation program would be 400 MB), so I have to learn a new installation program, and I'm trying to put in Redmoon RPG mod, so I have to figure out how to fix some bugs in that (it keeps replacing the HUD from regular tribes, and causing it's replacement HUD to be carried over into other mods, breaking your ability to play other mods).

I know, I know, I've not been very helpful with this. Tell you what. I'll put together what I already have for you, using my old installer maker. It still has some problems, like being 330 MB, and joining a Redmoon RPG server will overwrite your config/play.gui file making normal gameplay difficult if not impossible until you delete it (Tribes will recreate it. This file contains the HUD textures and maybe some functionality info, as well as the HUD positions). But I've been slow with fixing these problems and learning the new installer so I'll release it now, as beta, anyway. I guess it would be good to get it tested before I release it fully. You can tell me what problems you find in it in this thread, a new thread, in PM, or in email.. Or on MSN, for those who have me there. It'll probably be easiest in this thread or on MSN.

What it CAN (or should be able to) do (ideas for you to test, perhaps):
Almost everything I wanted it to do as a repack..
Join and play Tribes servers, all base versions
Join and play Tribes RPG mod servers
Join and play Tribes Redmoon RPG mod servers, although with the issue mentioned above
Join and play Tribes Star Wars mod servers
Join and play Tribes Snowboarding Circuit mod servers
Handle (some of) the new master servers since the original has finally died
Run as a server with the included (optional but recommended) TribesDoSFixIS1.9.exe

Some (okay, okay, most) of these server mods I mentioned are rare, so I don't entirely expect anyone to test them. Anyway, with all that out of the way, here's the BETA installer:
http://beatme101.com/files/Tribes%20Repack%20Beta.exe (<s>EDIT: DUE TO BANDWIDTH LIMIT I AM TEMPORARILY REMOVING THE FILE. I WILL RETURN IT NEXT MONTH.</s> -- it's next month now. File's back.)
Enjoy.

P.S.: Use a download manager. 330 MB will take quite a while to download with my ~60 KB/s speed limit, and it will be sad if it cuts off and has to restart. A download manager will allow you to resume the download should it get cut off. You can get a download manager here: http://www.nonags.com/catlist.asp?catID ... 20Managers

P.P.S.: MERRY (early) CHRISTMAS

P.P.P.S.: Another reason I'm doing this is because I hate vapourware. Don't want my repack to turn out like that.

I do not have Vista to test that, and not alot of people have or ever will have Vista, so it's not something I will have to worry about. Not that there's any reason it should fail on Vista.

The only way it will work on Vista is if you install everything, then download the Vista patch for Tribes. Just google it, you'll find it.

Just so you all know I haven't forgotten about this.

I'm planning to add Hudbot to the Tribes Repack. Here are some of the benefits this will bring:
Hudbot's web site wrote:Integrated DoSFiX from NoFiX (only useful for servers though).
Removes the ugly green lines from HUD borders
RadarHUD now properly clips the waypoint indicator to the edge of the hud when $pref::radarStencil is false.
Built in CRC Crack
Hudbot replaces Tribes memory allocator with the VS7 allocator. Tribes crashes when allocating blocks larger than 8mb and/or under high function/variable/object load.
Control::SetPosition now works for the default HUDs (jetpackHud, compassHud, etc)
Suns and planets are now rendered with GL_LINEAR instead of GL_NEAREST so they don't look pixelated any more.
Hudbot's web site wrote:NoFiX's Vista Compatability Fix ( in 0.5.18!)
All of the features from mem.dll (Winamp, 3rd person IFFs, Sky Rotation, onVehicleEnter/Exit..)
Load custom TGAs (8/24/32 bit) into tribes to use as HUDs, skins, skies
Support for Tribes 2 model skins (download pack for models & skins is on the additional skins page)
Reverts to default Tribes huds in windowed/software mode
A slew of $pref & standalone variables
Built in Timestamp() and Sound()
ScriptGL add-on allowing you to draw with OpenGL in Tribes script!
Custom terrain is now possible!
You can add your own texture replacements!
onLocalSound() callback
Minor Fixes
As you can see, "Vista Compatibility Fix" is in there, so this should work in Vista for those having trouble before.

By the way it's out now. And it does work on Vista (run the installer with administrator rights though).
